All About One Day Trek From Pune city
1.Difficulty of trek
Near Pune, Tikona fort trek, Shivneri Fort trek, Korigad fort trek, and other forts are famous among trekkers. Every fort in Maharashtra has a different challenge to offer.
I recommend comparing hights, time, and stamina as well as skills. Sahyadri mountain range is challenging so be ready to accept it.
2.Perfectly Optimized Backpack
For trekking in Pune, I recommend optimizing your backpack perfectly. I strongly recommend adding a refillable bottle, first aid kit, Power bank, Camera, cap, towel, etc. You have to keep the bag’s weight minimum. do not take more than 2 3 kg
Misinformation can lead you towards the disaster. So be sure you have the perfect information about transport options, travel times, trekking times, trails to reach, and come down from those forts.
In Maharashtra, forts have many routes to climb. Make sure you are aware of at least two trails to climb. If you are totally new to the area please take one local guide with you.
Knowledge of multiple routes can help you in trekking more easily. You can take optional routes if any bad conditions arrive like landslides.
4.Make sure weather is in your favor
Sahyadri mountain range is mighty. Do not underestimate forts and surrounding forests. They can give you the scariest experience in bad weather. So make sure the weather is perfect for trekking. Specially monsoon makes Sahyadri more slippery and risky.
5.List out spots you want to see
Forts in Maharashtra offer many features like caves, palaces, water tanks, fort walls, watchtowers, Cannons, Gates, etc.
To get the best experience you must know what you want to see there. Take knowledge of the History of that fort and places to see there. You will easily manage to complete the full track with the sight Seeing.
6.Take contact details of locals and co trekkers
Sahyadri Mountain range has a deep forest. While trekking through such forest, We can not deny the possibilities of getting distracted from the right trail. In such a situation, you must have contacts of your co trekkers and emergency services.
You can dial 108 for an ambulance and medical service as well as you can dial 100 and call the police for help. Many organizations work to help out trekkers you can search and keep their numbers in your contact list.
7.Gain Geographical knowledge of the area
In the deep forest and at high altitudes mobile networks can be a week. In some areas even sunlight is unable to touch the ground so how can we expect mobile networks to be there.
Hence, please gain knowledge of that area. For example, nearby villages, which village is on which side of the fort. compass feature on your phone can help you out.

8. Talk with people already been there
On FB you can search the name of the fort to get relevant pages and groups to find out people went there. You can also ask for information on quora or other similar sites. Such people can tell you the things to keep in mind while going on a trek.
Keeping all the above factors in mind, you can manage your trek successfully. I love our Pune city and our historical values.
We must keep going on Forts to refresh them. I write travel guides for forts in India at my blog Forttrek.com. Happy trekking.
